Obituary of Lyall Dale Shepperd

Lyall Dale Shepperd, 50, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Spring, Colorado, surrounded by family on October 1, 2022. He was born on July 18, 1972 to Madelyn Davey and Roger Shepperd in Munich, Germany. Lyall was named after his grandfathers (Lyall Cabe and Dale Shepperd). He was the second of two children and joined his sister Dorothy (Dottie). Lyall attended elementary school in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His sly sense of humor developed during this time and was evident throughout his life. He loved animals and was especially fond of the family German Shepherd, Cylon. After graduating from Rampart High School, Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1990, Lyall joined the United States Air Force. He served as a Security Policeman. He was stationed at Patrick AFB in Florida, Riyadh in Saudi Arabia, Osan in South Korea and Wichita Falls in Texas. After serving in the Air Force, he moved to Texas, where he lived in Dallas, Austin and later in Houston. He moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2012. Lyall very much enjoyed his work. He worked for a number of prominent companies including Anderson Consulting, Accenture, Cisco, 2Ring, Zoom and NICE. Lyall was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His son meant more to him than anything in the world. He was so proud of Julian and always tried his best to support him. Lyall really enjoyed working with his hands. He could often be seen working on his Jeep Wrangler which he had made many modifications to and took rock crawling. He also spent time refinishing 1950's/1960's aluminum boats and their engines. He didn't like fishing as much as he liked working with his hands. Anyone who knew Lyall knew that he was a loving father. He was an opinionated, brilliant, kind and generous spirit. A loyal and supportive friend and a frustrating, lovable, funny and amazing brother. Lyall is survived by his son, Julian Shepperd; his mother, Madelyn Davey; his father, Roger (Peggy Kjelgaard) Shepperd; his sister, Dottie (Robert Henschel) Shepperd; his uncle, Richard Davey, and his aunt, Debbie Reese. Lyall was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and namesake, Lyall Cabe; his maternal grandmother, Margie Cabe; his paternal grandfather and namesake, Dale Shepperd; his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Shepperd; and his uncles.
