I hadn't seen Doug in a few years (before Covid), but l last saw him at an event at the DoubleTree. Rather he saw me first and was quick to come and say "Hi" and ask how things were going. Always so warm and friendly - always made you feel like you really mattered to him. I'm glad to have known him. Sad to know that we won't have those chance meetings to catch up any more. :(

I got to meet Doug late in his life through the Tri-Lakes Chamber, but it's obvious his sense of adventure and public relations background followed him there. He loved meeting people and making friends. I was always amazed that he made the trek up to Monument from the Cheyenne area for the chamber breakfasts and was on time even though he had to travel with his oxygen. We never know what's ahead of us in our life, but Doug's past was evidence that he lived it to the fullest. My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time, and I'm sure Doug's spirit is imprinted around the world from his many adventures and love of nature. Linda Famula

I've had the pleasure of knowing Doug for many years through Tri Lakes Chamber Mixers. We both love to travel and would always talk about where he went or where he was going. He was supposed to go to the Baltic Countries to see 9 countries but was cancelled due to covid restrictions. Doug, I will miss your love of adventure but you're on the greatest journey now! My prayers to his family but do know he lived his life to the fullest! Lisa Hernandez

Doug was such a warm, friendly presence in the Colorado Springs business community. He was one of the first people to greet me the first time I visited at SCWCC event, and it always made me smile to seem him in the room--especially at the holiday gala! I will miss his cheerful welcome and positive attitude. Thank you Doug for blessing us with your light.

Doug was a beacon of light, always positive, always in a good mood, always shining his happiness on everyone around him. I met Doug when I was an SOB for the Chamber, many years ago. Sometimes years would pass when I saw him but he was one of the friends that when I saw him again, it was like it was just yesterday. He was always so supportive of everyone's business and wanted to see everyone around him succeed. Such a rare gem of a human being. Thank you for the friendship Doug. Leona Willener

Doug was an incredible human. He and I became ambassadors at the Colorado Springs Chamber on the exact same day back in the early 2000's. We networked within this community in many of the same circles. Doug was a champion for all small businesses and a wealth of positivity and light. I will certainly miss his smiles, hugs, and seeing him interact with others the way only Doug Kelley could. Sending love and healing light to his family and friends.

Doug was incredibly humble and so much interested in the stories of others that I hadn't realized the depth and breadth of his professional experience before Legal Shield. Everything Doug did personally and professionally supported and brought warmth and compassion to others. May Doug's family now feel this support, warmth and compassion reflected back to them as they grieve the loss of Doug. Much love.

Doug you were one of the first people I met when I opened my home care business (Gentle Shepherd Home Care) 7 years ago. You were such a bright light of love and hope for all who came into your life. You touched so many lives and most certainly touched my life! It was an honor and a privilege to care for you until you went to be with God. You will be deeply missed but thought of each and every day! Love you and know you are with all the other angels in Heaven. Until we meet again! Love you- Kathy Miller

Like countless others, Pam and I met Doug though his work with chambers of commerce. He seemed to be at every event in town! He was a fabulous and tireless ambassador for multiple chambers with an unmistakable positivity in his greetings. He made everyone he met feel comfortable and welcome. He would truly listen to people when learning about their business, then always did his best to get them connected with others that could help them be more successful. As a friend, Doug genuinely cared about you and wanted to help on both a personal and business level. He was one of the most dedicated and honest people I've ever known in everything he did. I experienced this first hand as a Legal Shield customer and when my daughter bought his house. All of this made him a true role model for me. Pam and I will miss him greatly!

Doug and I first met through Suzanne Craig, another Legal Shield representative. Suzanne invited me to a presentation by Doug. That was about 18 years ago, I believe. Later we were involved in the Greater Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce as SOBs! Our team with the Ambassador Club was Showing Our Best :). Doug then began supporting the Southern Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce and our friendship continued to grow. Always quick with a mile and a hug and always available to help. I will miss you, my friend. R.I.P., the angles are lucky to have you.

I met Doug through Legal Shield, and he became one of our strongest and most faithful team leaders. I called him my "Visa Man' cuz he was everywhere I wanted to me. And I mean everywhere...he always showed up. And 30 minutes early to help! (He must have a special place in heaven). I could always depend on Doug. There are many many stories, but I won't go into the wet whitie tighties while swimming in Mexico...(sorry Doug)....still makes me laugh! My favorite mental picture of him is when he showed up 30 minutes early (of course) to our luau party dressed like a dorky tourist. He was beaming with pride at his ridiculous attire of a loud aloha shirt adorned with a big clunky camera hanging around his neck, mismatched swim trunks; and white socks and ugly sandals gripping his white legs. His beat up straw hat and oversized sunglasses couldn't conceal his cheesy grin as he proudly won the best (or worst) dressed tourist costume. Doug was always game for a good time and could laugh at life and make me laugh. I can just hear his chuckle and would type it here, but I don't know how to spell it. His chuckle belonged purely to him. I'm sure you all remember it fondly, too. (and if you figure out how to spell it, please let me know.) He loved his family and fondly spoke of all of them and showed his love for mine...always asking how they were. To this day my adults kids have fond memories of Doug and celebrate his life, too. To have that kind of lasting impression on young kids speaks volumes of his character. I never heard a word of complaint through his challenging times. Just weeks before he passed he told me he was coping and thanked me for asking. He stood strong and faithful. "Faithful" is my word for Doug. One could always depend on this gentle man. Doug was a gift to all who knew him. Kind, spry, energetic, servant, visionary, loving, patient, generous, forgiving, gentle, friendly, fun, handsome, successful, determined, reliable, fun, successful, and FAITHFUL, FAITHFUL, FAITHFUL, Oh, Doug, thank you for being such an example to me. I'll always love and hold you in my heart. Rest peacefully, and until I see you again...know you ran your race well.
