Obituary of Alice Bertha Rice

Alice Bertha Rice was born in August, 1930 to Darwin and Christine (Syvertsen) Larson in Vivian, South Dakota. She died on November 30, 2022 at the age of 92. Alice spent her childhood in Vivian, South Dakota and moved to Colorado as a young adult. She spent several years in Denver, Colorado, where she met and married her husband, Robert Rice, and started a family. In 1974, they moved to Las Animas, Colorado when a construction opportunity presented itself. Alice worked at the First National Bank until she retired in 1994. A few years after that, she sold everything and moved to Falcon, Colorado, to live with Lisa and her family. Alice soon reunited with her niece, Lana Britton, and sharing a special bond, moved to their nursery and worked alongside the Britton's for several years. Although a banker by trade, Alice had many loves. First was her family, which she supported through thick and thin. She was an avid sports fan as well. She was at every game and event for her kids, and continued as a booster cheering for high school teams through the years, even after her own kids had graduated and moved on. Alice was not one to sit on the sidelines. She played as hard as she worked. Through her life, she participated in league activities in bowling, softball, and volleyball; you could catch her playing games with her family like badminton, holey board, and cowboy golf. If she wasn't playing a sport, she was watching them - football, baseball, golf, and basketball was a favorite. She could tell you baseball and Michael Jordan stats like nobody else I knew! Alice was also an exceptional baker and loved to try new desserts to share with friends and family. Alice had nine siblings and is survived by her older brother, Olaf. She is also survived by her sons, Mark (Shelly), and Gary (Lori); her daughter, Lisa (Steve); her grandchildren, Seth, Kyle (Tiffany), Chance, Kayla, and Ryan; and great-grandchildren, Christian, Kyson, and Kaylin. Celebration of life pending.
