Obituary of Theresa D. Colgan

Theresa "Terry" D. Colgan, 88, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2022 at home. She was born on February 26, 1934, in Trenton, New Jersey. Terry went to Hamilton High School West in Trenton, New Jersey, and graduated in 1952. Terry worked as an admissions clerk and data processor at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, New Jersey, for thirty-five years before retiring. She served as Queen of the Red Hats Society, Homestead of Columbus Chapter, and was a member of Altar Rosary Society at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Mount Holly, New Jersey. Terry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking and baking, and making crafts of all kinds, which she often sold at local craft shows. She spent over thirty-five years boating in Forked River, New Jersey, and finally in Rock Hall, Maryland, where she and Dick enjoyed entertaining aboard their beloved Judi-Cris. Terry was a very independent woman and spent much of her retirement caring for her husband, friends and neighbors. Terry reluctantly gave up her home in Columbus after it was determined she was unable to live alone. Her Colorado family was honored to care for her over the last five years in Colorado Springs. Terry's first grandchild, Michael, was referred to as "her Boobala". This name, in turn, became her own term of endearment. She literally became everyone's Boobala and she wore it proudly. She was well-loved by all, especially her many aunts, uncles, and cousins. If you needed something, Boobala was there for you. She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty-six years, Richard "Dick" L. Colgan; her parents, Lewis and Lena DiFeo; and her sister Virginia Podlesney. She is survived by her two daughters, Judy (Michael, deceased) Pratico, and Christine (Stephen) Uveges; her four grandchildren, Mike (Stephanie) Pratico Jr., Joseph (Brooke) Pratico, Melissa Uveges, and Olivia Uveges; and four great-grandchildren, John and Sara Rosati, and Theo Pratico and Josie Pratico. Memorial contributions may be made to Friend Making a Difference, P.O. Box 3053, Mercerville, NJ 08619, You can visit them at FriendsMakingADifference.com. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Bridges Hospice and Palliative Care, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Service and burial will be at the convenience of the family in New Jersey.
