Obituary of Daniel Damon Orr
Daniel Damon Orr, 47, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on December 31, 2022, after battling glioblastoma brain cancer for seventeen months.
Daniel was born on February 8, 1975 to Duane and Lupe Orr in Wichita Kansas.
Daniel grew up in a large family with nine siblings, and he was number ten. Daniel was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and his faith is the core of who he is. After graduating from Northwest High School, Daniel served a mission in El Salvador for two years. After his mission, Daniel moved to Arizona and made many lifelong friends and met, and married, the love of his life, Heather.
Daniel's deep love for his country led him to join the Army and serve for over fifteen years. His service took him all over the United States and the world. Daniel served two tours in Iraq and two tours in South Korea. After fifteen years in the Army, he transferred branches to the Air Force to continue to serve his country and provide stability for his children as they went through high school in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Daniel gave his life to his country, serving over nineteen years.
Daniel loved his country, but he loved his family even more. Daniel and Heather were married for over twenty-one years and had a marriage most people only dream of. Daniel was a very supportive and loving husband, allowing Heather to chase after her dreams. As a father, Daniel was adventurous, fun, very loving, and supportive. He took his children around the world to hike mountains, snorkel and kayak in many different oceans, snow ski in multiple countries, climb the great wall of China, try foods from all over the world, explore caves and temples in Asia, and play on beaches all over the world. When not on a grand adventure, Daniel loved to play games with his children, watch movies, play video games, making amazing meals, read scriptures, and laugh. Daniel always put his needs last for his wife and children and found great joy in just being with his family. Daniel also made it a priority to ensure his children grew their many talents, tried new things, and earned a good education. Daniel was very involved in helping his children with discovering what they wanted to study in college and have for their future careers. Daniel devoted his life to his wife and children, ensuring they followed their dreams.
As a friend, Daniel is one of the best. Everyone who knows Daniel loves him. Daniel inspires his friends to chase after their dreams, become better husbands and fathers, and enjoy life. Many have said that Daniel is an example to them to be a better person.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of twenty-one years, Heather Orr; daughters, Hayden and Madelyn; sons, Addison and Nathanael; siblings, David, Dale, Dianne, Darla, Dean, Delyn, Dayna, Debra, and Dawn; and many nieces and nephews who he adored.
